It is a gathering of amateur radio enthusiasts that meet to share ideas, learn new concepts, buy and sell equipment and have a good time.

Why attend a hamfest?
It gives you the opportunity to meet new friends, see new equipment, sell excess equipment and learn about the hobby.

It is easier to buy equipment on the internet!
True but it does not give you a chance to put your hands on the equipment and see if it really meets your needs.
